September 18 - 3:00 p.m.
Our crews from the Brazoria service center have made significant progress in the area’s power restoration, restoring more than 46,000 customers since the storm began with fewer than 8,000 customers remaining without power.
Downed trees, storm debris and access issues have made it difficult for crews to reach some areas in order to make repairs. In order for crews to safely begin work in your community, tree service crews must first clear the area. Crews also continue to focus on repairing heavily damaged circuits in the area impacting delivery to several thousand customers.
Our employees, contractors and mutual assistance crews are in your community. Expect to see them in your neighborhoods but please refrain from approaching them while working so they can stay focused on restoring your power as safely and quickly as possible.
Successes included restoring key facilities like St. Luke’s Brazosport Hospital, Freeport EMS & Fire, and Freeport waste/water treatment plants. To help address the local needs, we provided and installed a 5 MW generator at the Lake Jackson Civic Center.
We are dedicating additional resources to your community, which includes redeploying personnel to add to existing CenterPoint Energy and mutual assistance crews already in the coastal communities. We know this is difficult, and we will continue to work hard until everyone is restored.
Final Update
Our crews, along with mutual assistance, have diligently worked to complete the majority of restoration efforts throughout the Houston area in the aftermath of Hurricane Nicholas. While now focused on repairing the significant damage to our coastal communities in our Brazoria service area, we still have crews working to resolve a few remaining outages in our other service areas. Customers still without power may have equipment issues which require an electrician to repair.
