Do I need to be a CenterPoint Energy customer to sign up for an HSP plan?
No, service is available to anyone who lives within the HSP service territory. See if your city is covered here.
What plans are available from HSP?
We offer:
- Repair Plans: This includes Core Heating (for coverage of two heating appliances), Basic (for coverage of four appliances) and Total (for coverage of 12 appliances, plus multiples).
- Replacement Plan: Receive a fixed payment toward the purchase of a qualified new appliance when your old one is beyond repair and you are enrolled in the Basic or Total Repair Plan.
- Maintenance Plan: Includes two seasonal tune-up visits for your AC, furnace, water heater and more.
- Main Drain Emergency Cleaning Plan: Get professional unclogging of tree roots and other debris.
- Pipe Protection Plan: Includes repairs for exposed natural gas lines and gas appliance connections.
- Electrical Surge Plan: Get repair or replacement of qualified electronics damaged via electrical surges.
How many plans can I sign up for?
You may sign up for as many plans as you like; however, you can only be enrolled in one of our Repair Plan offerings.
How long after I purchase an HSP plan do I receive my contract?
You will receive an email with a link to the plan’s terms and conditions. If you do not have an email address you can request a paper copy from our customer service team.
How long is a plan contract for?
Our plans carry one-year contract terms.
If I move, can I take my HSP plan(s) with me?
Yes, as long as your new home is within the HSP service territory, you can take your plan(s) with you. When you transfer your account, your plan anniversary date will be adjusted, with the 12-month term beginning on your transfer date.
Do I need to live in HSP’s service area to purchase an HSP plan?
Yes. You can check if your home is inside the service area by inputting your zip code here.
How do I renew my HSP plan contract?
At the end of 12 months, contracts are automatically renewed unless canceled by you or CenterPoint Energy in writing to the other within thirty (30) days of your contract anniversary date.
Where can I find the terms and conditions of my plan?

Do I need to be enrolled in one plan to sign up for another?
No, only the Replacement Plan requires being enrolled in another plan–the Basic or Total Repair Plan.
HSP Repair Plans
What is the difference between the Core Heating Plan, the Basic Repair Plan and the Total Repair Plan?
The Core Heating Plan covers a furnace or boiler and water heater. The Basic Repair Plan covers these, plus your oven/range and clothes dryer, for a total of four appliances. The Total Repair Plan covers every possible appliance offered under the other two plans, for a total of 12 appliances, plus multiples.
Can I add coverage for other appliances not included in a repair plan?
Yes, if you have the Basic Repair Plan, any of the following appliances may be added for an additional fee (the Core Heating Repair Plan does not allow for additional coverage):
- Central AC and heat pump
- Gas fireplace
- Clothes washer
- Natural gas or propane grill
- Dishwasher
- Refrigerator
- Freestanding freezer
You can also purchase coverage for multiple appliances of one type such as an additional range, fireplace or refrigerator.
If I add appliances to my repair plan, can I remove them later?
You may remove appliances but you will be required to pay for the difference of the cost of any service call(s) received less any payments already made, since your most recent anniversary date.

Do I need to pay for covered parts and labor if I’m enrolled on a repair plan?
No.
Do I need to pay any deductibles, out-of-pocket expenses or trip charges if I’m enrolled on a repair plan?
No.
How soon after enrolling on a repair plan can I schedule a repair appointment?
You may schedule appointments beginning at any time on or after the start of your contract date as reflected in your contract documents, as long as your equipment is in operating condition at the time contract service begins and there is no waiting period specified in your contract.
What happens if my appliance or home system can no longer be repaired?
If an appliance cannot be repaired or the cost to repair would exceed the value of the existing appliance, we will recommend replacement.
Scheduling an Appointment
How do I schedule an appointment?
You may either call us at 877-477-1664, or sign into your account online.
What if my appliance breaks during a holiday?
HSP customer service is open 24/7, even on holidays, to respond to service requests and schedule appointments, although we cannot guarantee same-day repair.
Are repairs carried out by HSP technicians?
At our discretion, all or part of the work may be performed by our techs or by qualified contractors. In the event we are unable to provide service due to factors beyond our control, customers may submit invoices for covered repairs completed by other providers to be considered for reimbursement by CenterPoint Energy.
Are technicians licensed and certified heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) technicians?
Yes, all technicians performing HVAC work for HSP are licensed and certified to do so.
Do you call me before you show up for a repair or service appointment?
Yes, your technician will call you to let you know when they are on the way and their estimated time of arrival.
Replacement Plan
Do I need to have another HSP plan to purchase the Replacement Plan?
Yes, you must be enrolled in either the Basic or Total Repair Plan.
What appliances and home systems are covered in the Replacement Plan?
The Replacement Plan applies to all the appliances covered under your Basic or Total Repair Plan.
What payment do I receive from HSP toward a replacement appliance if I’m enrolled in the Replacement Plan?
Please consult the Replacement Plan Payment Chart for payment amounts.
If you purchase your replacement HVAC equipment (furnace, boiler, central air, fireplace or water heater) from HSP, instead of a check payment you will get credit toward your purchase price.
Will HSP take my old equipment if I get a new one from HSP through the Replacement Plan?
Yes, if you purchase your replacement equipment from HSP.
Maintenance Plan
What equipment is serviced as part of the Maintenance Plan?
The Maintenance Plan includes:
- Furnace or boiler tune-up
- Water heater tune-up
- Refrigerator coil cleaning
- Central air conditioner tune-up
- Clothes dryer vent cleaning
- Bathroom fan cleaning (up to two)
How much can I save by signing up for the Maintenance Plan versus scheduling maintenance individually?
The cost to schedule separately every service provided under the Maintenance Plan would be over 50% more than paying for the plan.
How often do you service my equipment with the Maintenance Plan?
Equipment is serviced twice per year, between September and April for heating equipment, and between May and August for cooling equipment.
