Save Money While Staying Comfortable

Get paid to save energy with our Smart Cycle program! This voluntary program helps CenterPoint Energy manage electricity demand while keeping you comfortable and reducing your bills.

New Enhanced Rewards

  • Receive a $75 one-time bill credit when you enroll
  • Earn $7.50 monthly credits from March through November (expanded from previous June-September period)

How It Works

  • Before each adjustment, your home is pre-cooled for comfort
  • During peak energy times (typically afternoons and early evenings, March-November), your smart thermostat will automatically adjust to help manage electricity demand
  • Your thermostat will temporarily adjust up to 4 degrees above your normal setting
  • You maintain full control – easily override settings anytime through your thermostat or app

Easy Enrollment Options

  • Already have a smart thermostat? Visit our thermostat rewards page to enroll your device.
  • Need a new smart thermostat? Purchase and install a compatible device, then follow the enrollment prompts.
    • We make it easy to purchase a thermostat through our online store;

Maximize Your Comfort During Events

Stay cool and comfortable during Smart Cycle events with these simple tips:

Optimize Your Space

  • Close blinds and curtains on windows exposed to direct sunlight
  • Ensure all windows and doors are properly closed to keep the cool air inside
  • Use ceiling fans or portable fans to enhance air circulation (remember to turn them off when leaving the room)
  • Keep your whole-house fan running to maintain consistent air flow throughout your home

These strategies work together with your smart thermostat to maintain comfort while maximizing energy efficiency.
