Homeowner and renter (​one-to-four-unit properties) programs​​​

​Home Energy Squad

Find your home’s hidden energy savings with a Home Energy Squad visit. Our experts will lay out a personalized energy plan for your home and install energy-saving items to qualifying households free of charge that may include programmable thermostats, low-flow showerheads and kitchen and bathroom aerators to reduce your home’s energy usage at no charge.

Home Energy Squad is delivered by the Center for Energy and Environment.

​Weatherization

Weatherization provides income-qualified homeowners and renters an energy assessment at no cost. This assessment finds measures to improve a home's energy efficiency, and after approved, they are installed at no cost to the customer. They can include but are not limited to attic and wall insulation, sealing of air leaks, plus repair or replacement of natural gas furnace (or boiler) and water heater.​​

Customers must participate in the Minnesota Department of Commerce Energy Assistance program to qualify.

Step 1: Apply through your local Energy Assistance Program service provider.*

Step 2: Call our program partner, Sustainable Resource Center, at 612-870-4255, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., to get started with Weatherization Assistance.

*Note: If you already applied for and received EAP funding approval, you qualify for weatherization services. Skip to step 2.

​Heating system tune-up

Income-qualified customers are eligible to receive a free heating system tune-up and safety check every two years. The service is offered in partnership with local Community Action Partnership (CAP) Agencies and services are performed an authorized CenterPoint Energy Home Service Plus technician. Qualified customers are randomly selected based on eligibility. Availability is limited.

Eligible customers will be contacted by CenterPoint Energy to schedule an appointment typically between February and April each year.
