Incentives
Participants can earn up to $40.00 per kW of verified curtailed load, based on average load reduction during all program events. Incentives are awarded at the end of each program period.
Eligibility
The Commercial Load Management Program is a good-faith agreement between the Project Sponsor (a qualifying customer or its sponsoring energy services company) and CenterPoint Energy to curtail electric loads on notice.
The program is a 24 hours a day, seven days a week program and is available to non-residential, distribution, government, education and non-profit customers within the CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric service territory who can curtail load when notified. Curtailments may occur at any time during the program year including holidays. Participants must abide by the following program rules:
- Shed a minimum of 50 kW when called after a 30-min notification, during program events (i.e., two test events and up to four unscheduled events triggered by ERCOT level 2 events or CNP system emergencies)
- Availability period:
- Summer: June 1 – November 30
- Winter: December 1 - May 31
- Must have an Interval Data Recorder or Smart Meter
- No penalties for opting out of tests or unscheduled events
Terms and conditions apply.
Customer commitment
Participating customers commit to receiving curtailment notifications for each enrolled program period, with two scheduled curtailments lasting 1 to 3 hours each and up to four unscheduled curtailments lasting up to 4 hours per period (summer and winter). No penalties for non-participation.
