Although no major road closures are anticipated for this work, there will be lane closures with two-way traffic being maintained on Gleason Lake Road at Wayzata Boulevard. Traffic on Highway 12 will not be impeded. Pedestrian traffic crossing Gleason Lake Road at Highway 12 will be detoured temporarily to County Road 101, Luce Line Trail and Vicksburg Lane within the project’s duration.
In coordination with the City of Wayzata, Hennepin County and Minnesota Department of Transportation, Michels Corporation will return to the project site in 2020 along Wayzata Boulevard E. at County Road 15 (Gleason Lake Road). From April 29 to November 18, the city completed its project entitled “

This summer, crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, replaced natural gas mains and connected natural gas service lines to the new mains along County Road 101 (Central Avenue N.), Gardner Street E. and across Highway 12. In coordination with the City of Wayzata, Hennepin County and Minnesota Department of Transportation, Michels Corporation will return to the project site in approximately mid- or late October along Wayzata Boulevard E. at County Road 15 (Gleason Lake Road). Project duration is expected to continue into late fall 2019.

Crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will return to the project area to replace natural gas main and service lines along Highway 12 (Wayzata Boulevard E.) at County Road 15 (Gleason Lake Road). The gas line replacements will begin in the week of September 3 after Labor Day and last into late September. Lane restrictions are anticipated in areas where active construction is occurring and are necessary to keep both the public and construction personnel safe. Restoration will follow by CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, Q3 Contracting.

Project Description
CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, Michels Corporation, will be installing natural gas pipeline via directional boring at two locations along TH 12: approximately adjacent to Gardner St. E. northbound along Central Ave. N. (CR 101) to Hollybrook Rd., as well as the intersection of Wayzata Blvd. W & Bushaway Rd. along CR 15 until continuing approximately 1,200 feet East along Wayzata Blvd. E. in the City of Wayzata.
Construction will happen in two parts: Part 1 will take place at County Road 101 and Highway 12 from June 20 to approx. mid-July 2019. Part 2 will take place at County Road 15. The start date and duration will be determined between CenterPoint Energy and the municipalities.
What are the estimated traffic impacts?
- Residents and local businesses will have access to their properties.
- Construction will occur in segments along the construction route, rather than all at once. Lane restrictions are anticipated in areas where active construction is occurring and are necessary to keep both the public and construction personnel safe.
- CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, Q3 Contracting, will restore the areas affected by CenterPoint Energy’s construction—typically the boulevard, lawn, sidewalk and road.
