Project Updates-Minneapolis-Windom Neighborhood

CenterPoint is proud to carry out pipeline modernization projects that ensure our customers stay warm throughout the Minnesota winters.

Authorized construction crews have been consistent in the Windom Neighborhood for the last few months, making important upgrades to our natural gas distribution system on Lowry Avenue NE. We anticipate this work to be complete by the end of the week of December 9.

The new main installation is complete along Lowry Avenue NE. Construction crews are now working on replacing and reconnecting service lines to the new main as well as moving inside meters outside. Expect service work to continue for a few more weeks.

Once service crews move off site, Q3 Contracting will begin restoring areas disturbed by the project. Due to colder temperatures, lawns and sidewalks may receive temporary restoration for the winter months with the goal of higher quality repairs in the spring and summer of 2025.

Crews from Michels Corporation, a CenterPoint Energy authorized contractor, began natural gas main work in the Windom Neighborhood the week of Oct. 14. The new main will be installed underneath the north sidewalk of Lowry Avenue NE, and following completion of the main a different crew will perform service work.

At this time, work is being done on the intersection of Lowry Avenue NE and Johnson Street NE as well as Lowry Avenue NE and Buchanan Street NE. Next week, the crew will move to the intersection of Lowry Avenue NE and Ulysses Street NE. There are no traffic impacts at this time. Natural gas main work is anticipated to be complete by the end of next week.

For a few months beginning Monday, October 14th, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will upgrade CenterPoint’s natural gas infrastructure in the Windom Neighborhood in Minneapolis along NE Lowry Avenue between Central Avenue NE and NE Stinson Parkway.

Equix Integrity updates our records on the locations of sewer lines in relation to natural gas lines. Michels Corporation will replace the natural gas mains, move inside meters outside by appointment, replace and/or reconnect service lines to the new main. Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work.
