CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, Q3 Contracting, is finishing the project. While one crew replaced the project’s natural gas lines, including the mains and service lines, another crew is restoring the affected areas. The restoration on Baker Road is complete. Restoration on Crestwood Drive, Mayview Terrace, and Ridgeway Drive will follow. We appreciate your patience as we upgraded our natural gas lines.

This week, a crew from Q3 Contracting, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will replace the natural gas main line under the east boulevard of Baker Road between Excelsior Boulevard and Carleton Road. During this time, the crew will close the right turn lane onto the eastbound lane of Excelsior Boulevard on Baker Road in addition to the south shoulder of Excelsior Boulevard and the north turn lane onto the northbound lane of Baker Road. There will be continuous access to all these turn lanes during construction.
The crew plans to finish the natural gas work on Baker Road by Friday, July 1. This includes replacing the main, connecting the service lines to the new main, and moving inside meters outside. When the crew is done with the natural gas work on Baker Road, they plan to work on the main, service lines, and meters on Crestwood Drive and Mayview Terrace into the week of Monday, July 18.
Another crew from Q3 Contracting will follow the natural gas work to restore the areas affected by construction. We want to thank you for your patience as we are upgrading our natural gas lines, ensuring system reliability for years to come.

In the week of May 23, a crew from Q3 Contracting, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will replace the natural gas main under the east boulevard of Baker Road between Excelsior Boulevard and Carleton Road. They will also begin connecting the natural gas service lines to the new main and moving inside meters outside. This work will happen from Rogers Drive to Excelsior Boulevard on Baker Road, lasting into the week of June 6. During this time, the northbound lane of Baker Road will be restricted with a flagging operation in this area.
When the crew is done with the natural gas work on Baker Road, they will move to Crestwood Drive and Mayview Terrace. They will replace the natural gas mains, connect the service lines to the new mains, and move inside meters outside. They plan to finish the natural gas work on these streets in the week of June 20.
Another Q3 Contracting crew will follow the natural gas work to restore the affected areas.

In the week of May 16, a crew from Q3, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will replace the natural gas main under the east boulevard of Baker Road between Excelsior Boulevard and Jane Lane. During this time, the northbound lane of Baker Road will be restricted with a flagging operation in this area. The contractor will also be replacing a natural gas main on Rogers Drive during this week. During this work, Rogers Road will not be restricted and will have full traffic entrance and exit.

In the week of May 9, a crew from Q3 Contracting, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will replace the natural gas main under the east boulevard of Baker Road between Maywood Lane and Jane Lane. During this time, the northbound lane of Baker Road will be restricted with a flagging operation in this area.

In the week of May 2, a crew from Q3 Contracting, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, plans to replace the natural gas main on the east side of Baker Road up to Maywood Lane. Flaggers will continue to help direct traffic from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. when the crews are working.
The crew is on schedule to complete the natural gas work on Baker Road into late May. This will include connecting the service lines to the new main and moving inside meters outside.
When the crew is done with the natural gas work on Baker Road, they will replace the natural gas lines on the project’s remaining streets on Ridgeway Drive, Crestview Drive, and Mayview Terrace.

On Monday, April 25, a crew from Q3 Contracting, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will begin replacing the natural gas main on the east side of Baker Road south of Rogers Drive, working north on Baker Road. During this time, flaggers will be on site. The crew anticipates that replacing the main on Baker Road from Rogers Drive to Excelsior Boulevard will take approximately three weeks.
When the crew is done replacing the mains, they will begin connecting the service lines to the new mains and will move inside meters outside. They anticipate working on the service lines and meters into late May.
When the natural gas lines are done, another Q3 Contracting crew will restore the areas affected by the other crew’s work.

On Monday, April 18, a crew from Q3 Contracting, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will begin replacing the project’s natural gas mains on Crestwood Drive. For approximately two weeks, they anticipate replacing the mains on Crestwood Drive, Ridgeway Drive, and Mayview Terrace. During this time, there will be minimal traffic impacts.
In the first week of May, the crew plans to replace the main on Baker Road and Rogers Drive. After the main work is done, the crew plans to connect the service lines to the new mains and move inside residential meters outside. More information will be provided closer to that time.

CenterPoint Energy has postponed its project in Minnetonka due to weather restrictions. In 2022, its authorized contractors will replace natural gas mains, connect service lines to the new mains, move any inside meters outside, and restore the areas affected by their work. More information will be sent closer to the new start date.
What will CenterPoint Energy do?
CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will work in Minnetonka along the following streets: Crestwood Drive from Excelsior Boulevard to Mayview Terrace; Ridgeway Drive and Mayview Terrace at Crestwood Drive; Baker Road from Excelsior Boulevard to Rogers Drive; and Rogers Drive from Baker Road to Minnetoga Terrace.
The crews will replace the natural gas mains, connect the natural gas service lines to the new mains, move any inside residential meters outside, and restore the areas affected by their work. Lane and parking closures may occur. Flaggers may be on site to help direct traffic.
What is CenterPoint Energy’s COVID-19 protocol?
The construction crews and personnel will continue to use the Covid-19 Customer Permission Flyer, which requests customer permission prior to entering homes. Personnel, contractors and CenterPoint Energy employees will continue to practice CDC guidelines regarding social distancing, sanitary practices and wearing face masks when entering customer homes.
What if I have an inside gas meter?
The customer will receive a CenterPoint Energy postcard in the mail typically within one or two weeks prior to the day when the Michels Corporation crews will perform the work. The crews will have CenterPoint Energy-authorized photo IDs stating that they are employees of Michels Corporation.
After the customer receives the postcard, the foreman will arrive at the customer’s house to schedule an appointment that typically meets with the customer’s schedule. If the customer isn’t home when they arrives, he will leave a door tag with his contact information to schedule an appointment with him.
Customers are advised to set aside a two- to four-hour time frame for the inside-to-outside gas meter move. They are also advised to mark their privately-installed utilities such as dog fences or sprinklers. Marking can be accomplished with tools such as spray paint or utility flags. The foreman will access the natural gas meter inside the house, move the meter outside, and relight the natural gas appliance pilot lights after the new meter has been relocated.
Customers with outside meters will be notified prior to the replacement or connection of the service lines to the new mains. Areas affected by our work will be restored to their original condition.
What should I expect during permanent restoration?
On the soft surfaces such as boulevards and lawns, various erosion control measures keep the restored area moist, hold seed in the soil, and enhance seed germination. If an erosion blanket is needed it is secured in place with staples. The mesh is a wood fiber that will completely degrade. Prior to mowing the restored area, remove any loose staples that secured the blanket.
