By Monday, June 20, a crew from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, plans to finish replacing the project’s natural gas mains. Below is the planned schedule:
By Wednesday, June 15, they will have replaced the natural gas main under the north boulevard of Lake Avenue. Until then, they’ll work between Northome Avenue and Day Lane. On Wednesday, June 15 and Thursday, June 16, the crew will replace the main in the intersection of Deephaven and Lake Avenues with a lane shift or closure of Deephaven Avenue during these two days. Until Monday, June 20, they will replace the main under the north boulevard of Azure Road between Deephaven and Hamilton Avenues. During this time, parking will be restricted on the north side of Lake Avenue and Azure Road in these areas.
On Wednesday, June 15, another Michels Corporation crew will begin connecting the project’s service lines to the new mains and moving inside meters outside. They will start working on Lake Avenue, Northome Avenue, and Day Lane before moving to Azure Road. Parking will be restricted where the crews are working.
Q3 Contracting will follow to restore the areas affected by their work outside the limits of the City of Deephaven’s public works projects.

This week, a crew from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, replaced the natural gas main under the north boulevard of Lake Avenue between Deephaven Avenue and Day Lane. During this time, parking will be restricted on both sides of Lake Avenue in this area.
They are also replacing the main on the east side of Northome Avenue for one block south and on the west side of Day Lane for one block south. Parking will be restricted on both sides of these streets.

In the week of May 30, a crew from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will replace the natural gas main mains under the north boulevard of Azure Road between Deephaven and Hamilton Avenues. During this time, parking will be restricted on both sides of Azure Road in this area.
Another Michels Corporation crew is connecting the natural gas service lines to the new mains and moving inside meters outside. They plan to complete their work on Hooper Lake Road by Friday, May 27.

This week, a crew from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, began replacing the project’s natural gas mains. They are currently working under the east side of Hooper Lake Road. They will also be connecting the service lines to the new mains and moving inside meters outside.
In the week of May 23, the crew will work on both sides of Hooper Lake Road. From Monday, May 16 to Friday, May 27, this road will be closed to through traffic.
What will CenterPoint Energy do?
From Monday, May 16 to early June 2022, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will work in Deephaven along the following streets: Azure Road from Deephaven Avenue to Hamilton Avenue; Lake Avenue from Day Lane to Deephaven Avenue and from Talton Place to Monaltrie Avenue; Day Lane at Lake Avenue; Northhome Avenue from Lake to Park Avenues; and Hooper Lake Road from Excelsior Boulevard to Vine Street.
While Michels Corporation will replace the natural gas mains, connect the natural gas service lines to the new mains, and move any inside meters outside, Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work.
What are the anticipated traffic impacts?
During this time, lane, parking, and road closures may occur. The crews plan to place the following detour routes during their respective closures at separate times:
When Lake Avenue will be closed from Talton Place to Monaltrie Avenue, a detour route will lead drivers to Monaltrie Avenue, Azure Road, and Deephaven Avenue.
When Azure Road will be closed from Deephaven to Hamilton Avenue, one detour route will lead drivers to Monaltrie Avenue, Rutledge Road, and Deephaven Avenue. Another route will lead drivers to Virginia Avenue, Rutledge Road, and Hamilton Avenue.
When Hooper Lake Road is closed from Vine Street to Excelsior Boulevard, a detour route will lead drivers to Vine Street, Highcrest Drive, Rosedale Avenue, Vine Hill Road, and Excelsior Boulevard.
What is CenterPoint Energy’s COVID-19 protocol?
The construction crews and personnel will continue to use the Covid-19 Customer Permission Flyer, which requests customer permission prior to entering homes. Personnel, contractors and CenterPoint Energy employees will continue to practice CDC guidelines regarding social distancing, sanitary practices and wearing face masks when entering customer homes.
What if I have an inside gas meter?
The customer will receive a CenterPoint Energy postcard in the mail typically within one or two weeks prior to the day when the Michels Corporation crews will perform the work. The crews will have CenterPoint Energy-authorized photo IDs stating that they are employees of Michels Corporation.
After the customer receives the postcard, the foreman will arrive at the customer’s house to schedule an appointment that typically meets with the customer’s schedule. If the customer isn’t home when they arrives, he will leave a door tag with his contact information to schedule an appointment with him.
Customers are advised to set aside a two- to four-hour time frame for the inside-to-outside gas meter move. They are also advised to mark their privately-installed utilities such as dog fences or sprinklers. Marking can be accomplished with tools such as spray paint or utility flags. The foreman will access the natural gas meter inside the house, move the meter outside, and relight the natural gas appliance pilot lights after the new meter has been relocated.
Customers with outside meters will be notified prior to the replacement or connection of the service lines to the new mains. Areas affected by our work will be restored to their original condition.
What should I expect during restoration?
On the soft surfaces such as boulevards and lawns, various erosion control measures keep the restored area moist, hold seed in the soil, and enhance seed germination. If an erosion blanket is needed it is secured in place with staples. The mesh is a wood fiber that will completely degrade. Prior to mowing the restored area, remove any loose staples that secured the blanket.
