Beginning in 2010, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) will be commercially available from several major automakers. As well as an internal combustion engine, a PHEV has batteries that can be recharged by connecting to a standard outlet.
To prepare for the coming availability of these vehicles, CenterPoint Energy is part of a nationwide industry group that is studying PHEVs to help ensure compatibility with the electricity infrastructure.
