CenterPoint Energy strives to make a positive impact in the communities we serve through philanthropic giving and employee volunteerism. In 2023, our employees contributed more than 90,000 hours of volunteer time in our communities. We also provide opportunities for employees to participate in company-organized volunteer efforts and encourage them to contribute their time and talents to causes they care about. Our volunteer and board service grants, as well as our Easy Match program, encourage our employees to become personally involved in the well-being of the communities in which they live and work by financially contributing to qualifying charitable organizations that are important to them.
CenterPoint Energy’s community involvement and giving is focused on our strategic giving priorities of Community Vitality and Education.
We look for initiatives that contribute to thriving neighborhoods, cities and states. This includes investing in affordable, energy-efficient housing and quality of place projects resulting in flourishing communities.
At CenterPoint Energy, we believe education is key to the ongoing success of our communities. We invest in quality literacy programs ranging from early childhood through adult literacy and tutoring programs as well as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) education programs targeted to under-resourced areas and/or underrepresented populations. Lastly, we look for opportunities to continue building workforce development programs addressing needs of our communities.
The CenterPoint Energy Foundation strives to be a catalyst in our communities by leveraging everyday opportunities and resources to achieve extraordinary outcomes. That's why we invest in initiatives that not only improve our stakeholders' lives today, but also build a strong foundation for tomorrow. CenterPoint Energy recognizes that our success - and the success of our neighbors is linked to the vibrancy of our communities.
