We transitioned to a new customer billing system that will bring new account features. Please be aware that all customers have received a new account number and your July bill will be redesigned as part of this system change.
In addition to a new account number, you can expect updated self-service options, additional language translations, easier program enrollments and more.
Please note if you currently pay your CenterPoint Energy bill directly through a bank or other financial institution's bill pay service, you will need to update your account number on or after July 2, 2024, for your payment(s) to be applied to your account. If you are enrolled in AutoPay (automatic payments) through your online CenterPoint Energy account, you do not need to take any additional action. Your AutoPay enrollment will automatically transition over to the new system.

As part of the system change in July, all customers will receive bills with a new look. The new design will have the same information as before, but with a new format. Additionally, it will include information about energy usage, including:

Yes. Starting July 2, you will need to provide the authorized payment site with your NEW account number to pay your bill. The payment site will not be able to process your payment using a stub that has your previous account number.
Once the changes are made, call CenterPoint Energy customer service at 800-227-1376 and select the “Get my new account number” self-service option. You will need your previous account number. You do not need to speak with a live customer service agent.
No. If you are enrolled in automatic payments (AutoPay) through your online CenterPoint Energy account, you do not need to take any additional action. Your AutoPay enrollment will automatically transition over to the new system.
Yes. If you have an automatic bill payment arrangement through your financial institution (bank or credit union, instead of your online account referred to as My Account), you will need to notify your financial institution of your new CenterPoint Energy account number in July to ensure that your automatic payment is applied.
If you are a customer in Indiana who receives payment assistance through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), your previous CenterPoint Energy account information will automatically carry over to your new account number.
If you are a customer in Ohio who receives payment assistance through Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP), your previous CenterPoint account information will automatically carry over to your new account number.

After the system update, eBill will be called, “Paperless Billing.” If you are currently enrolled in eBill, you will remain enrolled, but it will now be known as Paperless Billing. Paperless Billing will now include:
No. The Vectren app will no longer be able to process payments after July 2, 2024.
No. If you pay your CenterPoint Energy bill by mail you can still submit payment stubs with your check and your payment will be posted to your new account number.
If you are a customer with two meters, you are used to having all your meter charges on one bill. Starting July 2, you will have a new account number for each meter and you will be receiving an individual bill for each meter service contract that you have. You will not be charged any additional service fees.
No. There will be no changes at this time to Budget Bill and if you are enrolled you will not be impacted.
As a Choice customer, you do not need to worry about sharing your new account number back to your gas supplier. CenterPoint Energy will be sending your supplier your new account number to update your records. You will however be issued a Choice service ID number. When you contact your supplier to make changes to your account, you will need to provide this new service ID number. Your Choice service ID number will be printed on your bill.
